Nothing until I leaped from my office desk in sheer frustration this past Friday and visited my favorite local boutique to purchase Sara Happ's celebrated Lip Slip.
The inspiration for the product alone sold me. Sara Happ's website reads: "The supple feel of a shimmery gold YSL calfskin bag. A bottle of Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. Your favorite camisole; soft, sweet, nude, girly and grand. The world doesn't need another lip balm. It needs the right one. Slip into this."
The Lip Slip can be worn both during the day for a glossy appearance on its own, over lipstick, and as a treatment at night. I applied this product almost immediately after leaving the boutique and felt instant relief. I'd been hiding very tired chapped lips under bright lipstick all day, and the stain left behind paired with the beautiful healthy shine instantly created by Happ's Lip Slip was effortlessly chic. And by the end of the afternoon? My lips were well on their way to recovery. I've been wearing this all weekend and I'm so pleased with the results. No more red, swollen lips for me!
When I first opened the packaging I was immediately reminded of By Terry's Baume de Rose. Sara Happ's Lip Slip is a bit thicker, contains subtle shimmer particles and smells (intentionally or unintentionally) like bubble gum. It's by no means exactly the same as By Terry's expensive balm, but the emollient, ointment like texture that lasts and lasts on the lips is very similar. Both balms give the lips a full and healthy appearance while moisturizing. If you're looking for a wallet friendly version of Baume de Rose that offers the same benefits, The Lip Slip is the balm you're looking for.
Sara Happ's Lip Slip is a true gem. As a balm-aholic I cannot believe I haven't tried this magnificent, well-executed line before! I'm looking forward to trying on of Happ's famous lip scrubs: a limited edition scent is released each season, and I'm itching to get my hands on spring's Green Apple. I'm also eyeing the Lip Slip Gloss, touted as a more "purse and finger friendly" version of the original.
Have you tried Sara Happ's Lip Slip? I've just applied more right now ... it's that good!
