The Sexiest Lipstick I Own: Giorgio Armani Plum 609

For a blogger so wholeheartedly attached to lip balm and day-to-day lip colors, it may come as a bit of a surprise to you that I love a vampy lip. Mind you, though I'm not one to follow "the rules" this is a trend that I can only bring myself to wear when the weather is just right. I often begin to feel the impulse when the weather can be described as crisp and leaves swirl about while I meet up with friends for a night out. Or in the dead of winter, when brings just won't do.

It's not so much that I've been on a personal quest to find the perfect vampy lipstick, but many of my fellow Lipstick Bandits have been. It was through Larie of Eye Heart It that I discovered quite possible the sexiest lipstick I've ever seen ... Giorgio Armani Plum 609.

Part of the allure of this lipstick is the packaging. A heavy polished black tube closes magnetically as if by magic. Many bloggers and beauty writers liken the closing snap of well made lipsticks to the sound a luxury car door makes when it's closed. If that allusion holds any weight with you, then Giorgio Armani's lipstick packaging would be a sleek black Maserati from the 60s.

I've really fallen for Giorgio Armani cosmetics and cherish the opportunity to try new products. Plum 609 is my first Armani lipstick, but if this experience serves as a guide, I'm certain it won't be my last.

This vampy lipstick looks incredible on Larie, and her post showcased just what a chameleon this vampy shade really is. In the bullet Plum 609 appears to be a deep wine red. Once the shade is swatched or applied to the lips though, it's deep oxblood undertones become immediately apparent. If the trend reports are any guide oxblood will be the it shade this fall--you  may want to consider Armani Plum 609.

Many of my vampy lipsticks are matte as if by default. Though the glossyness of such a dark lipstick makes it difficult to apply evenly, I adore what volume the shine of the deep burgundy hue gives my lips.

So what do you think of vampy lips? It's a look that can be difficult to wear, particularly for those who shun brights ... let alone colors that go beyond black cherry red. Do you have any vampy favorites?
