As the temperatures cool and become more crisp, I can't help but appreciate the return of cold weather perfumes. I tend to favor woodsy and oriental fragrances meaning that they can often be quite overwhelming during the heat and humidity of the summer. On the first cold day we had I immediately reached for my absolute favorite (and signature) perfume: Kiehl's Amber 1942, a sensual deep fragrance that reminds me of museums and antiquarian books.
Though I've gradually been returning to my standard (and predictable) winged out black liner, I have been enjoying the look of a rich brown eyeshadow paired with a deep black mascara. Recently the combination of choice has been Fresh Supernova Mascara with an old favorite, NARS Lola Lola.
Due to stress my lips have been a disaster area. Though I've been drinking as much water as possible and exfoliating with Sara Happ's Blood Orange scrub, I'm also making an effort to keep my lip products treatment-based and no frills. Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatments have been constant companions as has Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector in 02.
Though this candle is a particular favorite--I cannot wait to finish burning it so I can use the container as a jewelry holder--cold weather is also the harbinger of candle season! Between a store closing sale at a C.O. Bigelow, a Bath & Body works discount code and my birthday I'm set for the foreseeable future! Bring it on, cold wind!
And finally, I can't mention August/September favorites without a huge shout-out to my incredible husband. At risk of sounding like a groupie, Metric has been my absolute favorite band since about 2003. I've essentially grown up listening to their music, and have so many memories attached to each and every song. What's more I never tire of listening to them.
For whatever reason I've never had the opportunity to see Metric perform live (I was living in Paris during one concert at a venue in my city, at a wedding for another etc.) until this coming weekend. My husband surprised me with tickets, and I cannot wait!
