When my fellow Lipstick Bandits proposed that nude be our next collaboration, I was a bit anxious. You see I have trouble with nudes, and associate the "too light" look with celebrities of a dubious nature ... like Heidi Montag. I'm quite pale all year round, have a relatively neutral complexion and have been blessed with pigmented lips. While I enjoy my Snow White-esque pout, it makes finding a true nude pigmented enough to cover my natural lip color a bit of a challenge.
However, my perceptions of the term "nude" changed when I was introduced to the lipstick that has become my favorite of all time: MAC Patisserie. I wore this natural shade on my wedding day, I've gotten my mother and several friends hooked on the color and I can't imagine what life would be without it.
In order to cover my stubborn rosy lips I apply a layer of NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Buenos Aires and follow it with a liberal application of MAC Patisserie. This winning combination mutes my natural lip color, is rosy enough that I don't appear washed out (read: sickly) and goes with just about every makeup combination that I could possibly conceive of.
