Seven Things Sunday

Crisp weather, tea, skin care and time to write a blog post. Is there anything better on a Sunday morning? "Seven Things on Sunday" was born on a similar lazy day when I craved an easy (not quite so labor intensive) way to share a current list of things I'm loving, liking or (very rarely) disliking.

One. Home made pasta. As a birthday gift my Aunt signed us up for a home made pasta making class at our local Sur la Table. This class was selected as a direct result of an attempt at making home made pasta that my Aunt and I lovingly refer to as the "Pasta Tragedy of 2010." We had a fabulous time and I learned quite a few tips and tricks! My husband and I recreated one of the pastas yesterday evening ... nothing beats fresh pasta!

Two. Collecting trinkets. I've always loved little antiques and unusual pieces of jewelry, but my love of photographing cosmetics with relevant props on Getting Cheeky has given my habit of collecting odds and ends new meaning. I've rediscovered a few around the house and have found some out and about that I can't wait to feature in upcoming posts. (No photograph, of course, or the element of surprise would be ruined!)

Three. Inspired by Kourtney Kardashian (... yes, really). I'd initially planned to pen a whole post about Kourtney Kardashian's sense of style, and her ability to rock bold makeup. When I attempted to, though, it amounted to one paragraph explaining the fact that Keeping Up With the Kardashians is my guilty pleasure. I'm sure you get the gist from the photograph below, though ... can I please have her hair style?

Four. Statement necklaces and simple outfits. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll already know that fall fashion for me is all about otherwise simple outfits paired with statement jewelry. Some of these baubles have been staples in my collection for years, and others like a new Top Shop gem I ordered this summer are fabulous and on trend pieces that pull any outfit together.

Five. Generous samples. How fabulous are generous samples? This is a bit of an odd thing to discuss at great length, I know, but some of my all time favorite products were first introduced to me in sample sizes. I've recently received some incredible products from Kiehl's and a life changing Chantecaille mud mask from Nordstrom. And yes, if you were wondering, if the same product is available on two websites I am more inclined to order where the samples are good!

Six. Reading weather. There's a chill in the air, and afternoons can be gray and gloomy. It's book weather, without a doubt! I've been digging in to the syllabus I created for myself late this summer and I couldn't be happier. Reading has always been a source of stress relief for me, and finding passages relevant to your life in a 200 year old book only makes the experience all the more rewarding.

Seven. A few magnificent blog posts as always ...
Xiao of Messy Wands positively stuns in Rouge Bunny Rouge Raw Silence.
Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book displays a few of her current favorite nude and vampy shades.
Amy and Liz of Café Makeup swatch the NARS x Andy Warhol Flowers 3 Palette. (Me likey!!!)

What are your seven things this Sunday?
