A Very Lipstick Bandit Christmas

I'm sure you've heard of Secret Santa: any given group of friends, coworkers, family members etc. draws names and makes purchases for a secret partner only to be revealed on Christmas Day. Inspired by this concept, the Lipstick Bandits collectively decided to do a look swap as a gift for each other this holiday season. We all agreed that names would be assigned secretly and that we'd do a look inspired by the signature makeup of one of our fellow Lipstick Bandits. No, we certainly weren't aiming to look exactly like each other and no the concept does not have to be exact.

I happened to be assigned Rae of The Notice, a blogger that I've long respected and admired even before the days of the Lipstick Bandits. I adore Rae's simple, incredibly refined approach to makeup and rather than attempting to recreate her look down to minute details I selected several of my favorite things about her signature style.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer SC2
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer N52 Vanille
Le Métier de Beauté Classic Flawless Finish Concealer Shade 1
Vichy Dermablend Foundation N15 Opal
Paula Dorf Cheek Color Ecstasy

Le Métier de Beauté Brow Bound Eyebrow Pencil Brunette
NYX Jumbo Pencil Milk (on brow bone)
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Shadow Emerveille
Sephora Flashy Liner Deep Black (smudged along lash line)
Stila Kajal Liner Topaz (waterline)
Fresh Supernova Mascara

Lipstick Queen Medieval Lipstick
Chanel Boy Rouge Coco Shine

When I look at the way Rae applies her makeup I immediately notice three things:
(Okay, four. The first thing I notice is that she's absolutely gorgeous!)
Well cared for skin with incredibly well executed base makeup.
Subtle, smoldering eyes often created with neutral hues rather than shades of gray or charcoal.
Subtle, very healthy and hydrated lips.

Though creating this makeup look is meant to be my holiday gift to Rae, she inadvertently gave me something in return. My day-to-day look is not all that different from Rae's style, however things felt much more simplified than my usual approach. I wore my "The Notice Face of the Day" all day and I felt incredibly confident but not overdone. This woman is a cosmetic genius!

Curious to see how other Lipstick Bandits interpreted this Secret Santa inspired "look swap?" Interested to see who had the task of creating a look inspired by my own signature makeup look? Then be sure to check out the posts my fellow Bandits have put together:
