Seven Things Sunday

Another weekend, another lazy Sunday afternoon which inevitably precipitates a Seven Things Sunday post. Rather than knit for hours on end without pause or lose myself in a book (which is never a bad thing) to the extent that I forget to dedicate a bit of time to Getting Cheeky, I thought I'd take a pause from my already relaxing activities to share a few current items I'm loving, liking or (very rarely) disliking.

One. Something Old, Something New a documentary about fragrance. Whether you're a connoisseur of perfume or just dipping your foot into the pond of endless possibilities, the BBC's documentary Something Old, Something New is a fascinating look at the perfume industry past and present and the mystical allure of fragrance itself. Over the past year I've grown more and more fascinated with perfume and I found this look at something many of us take for granted as an everyday luxury absolutely fascinating.

Two. Juicing. As a bit of background, my husband works at a local health food chain and has access to many wonderful holistic ingredients that I've previously taken for granted. Though I've never considered myself much of a health nut, a cold this past week taught me just how much these things can help without the drag or fog that often accompanies medicine. Thanks to a Cold Killer Juice (orange, lemon, wheat grass and ginger) I felt much better, and have a new found interest for the power of juice. Though I make no claims about its effectiveness when compared to good old cold medicine, I'm beginning to appreciate the impact "clean/healthy" ingredients have on the way I feel on a day to day basis.

Three. New glasses ... finally! After five years I finally have a new pair of frames and a new prescription. I'm understandably excited about this development, as evidenced by my post about glasses and my every day makeup here. Though I went with a shape and style a bit more apt to go out of style quickly, I feel my new Ray Bans really fit with my personality and overall style.

Four. 2013's Exciting New Beauty Launches. 2013 has already seen some incredibly exciting and unexpected makeup launches. From the new NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder, to Hourglass Ambient Light Powder and Benefit's exciting Fake Up Concealer the first month and a half of the year have already hosted some incredible releases. At this rate I simply cannot wait to see what the rest of 2013 will bring!

Five. Knitting, knitting, knitting and infinity scarves galore! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter it will be hard to have missed that I picked up knitting early on in 2013. Though I certainly do not profess to be a talented, or even anything beyond a beginner I've been enjoying how relaxing a retreat the pastime offers. At this point I've only been confident enough to knit an infinity scarf, and because one can never have too many I'm already on to another in one of the most beautiful yarns I've ever seen: Lion's Brand Homespun Thick & Quick in the shade Waterfall.

Six. Valentine's Day is on the horizon. Whether you like it or not, I absolutely adore Valentine's Day. I've mentioned in the past that I think it's a lovely occasion to celebrate loved ones, and it offers a holiday respite during an otherwise bleak month (at least here, February is cold and filled with snow). Mr. Cheeky and I always have a perfect low key celebration, and I'm eager to pay our favorite restaurant a visit this Thursday.

Seven. A few magnificent blog posts as always ...
Tiffany of Will Work for Makeup reviews Hourglass's new Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light
I love Laurie's dainty Valentine's wish list, recently posted on her beautiful new blog 312 Beauty
I've been fantasizing about purchasing one of Guerlain's beautifully packaged fragrances for some time now, and Jane's review of Eau de Lingerie on Daly Beauty has definitely piqued my interest
