Skin Care Routine: February 2013

As I mentioned this past month when I began writing my monthly Skin Care Routine series, I dubbed 2012 the year of skin care. I spent much of this past year experimenting and reading as much as I could possibly get my hands on regarding my skin and skin care in general. Along the way I discovered some incredible posts written by fellow bloggers. I decided to take a cue from some of my favorite French bloggers like La Vie en Blonde and Une Parisienne et Son Chien who write monthly "Routine de Soin" posts (essentially "skin care routine").

I pledged that on the last day of each month I'd snap a picture of the items I've used all month on the shelf that houses them in my vanity. My Skin Care Routine series serves as a visual skin care diary of sorts, as much for me as for you, as it shows how my skin care changes from month to month and from season to season.

February has been a cold and snowy month, and as you can imagine we don't get a great deal of sun. Once again my aim has been moisture, though I've also attempted to add items that will treat and improve the brightness of my skin. As much as I adore Valentine's Day, and look forward to the month of my husband's birthday I just can't love February. After day two everything begins to seem quite dreary, and the shortest month of the year seems the longest! Unfortunately that toll shows on my skin, which often looks dull, dry and ashen during the month of romance. Incorporating heavy moisturizing day creams such as Dr. Hauschka's Rose Day Cream has been a blessing, and help in the most unexpected natural form Manuka Honey has revolutionized the ravaged condition of my lips.

Moisturize: Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, La Roche Posay Cicaplast (not pictured), Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream
Cleanse: Shu Uemura White Recovery EX+ Brightening Cleansing Oil, Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
Treat: Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate, Korres Yoghurt Instant Soothing Gel, Kahina Giving Beauty Brightening Serum (sample)
Pai Echium Anti-Ageing Eye Cream
Sarah Happ The Lip Scrub in Blood Orange, Comvita Manuka Honey, L'Occitane Honey Shea Butter

Once again staying dedicated to body moisturizing can be a chore after a long day, but I've made sure to keep up as I notice a big difference in my skin when I do. I'm still madly in love with LUSH's faintly lavender scented Dream Cream which has been my undeniable favorite this winter.
