A Blog Lover's PSA: Google Reader, Blog Lovin' and You!

If you follow blogs of any kind and keep up with internet news I'm sure you're now aware that Google Reader will be closing shop for good on July 1, 2013. Though I'm sure Google has some very good reasons for this decision (*cough*), I can't deny that it will leave many of us in a quandary. For bloggers it means frustration as many of our readers follow our sites through platforms like Google Reader and GFC (which I suspect is also going the way of the dinosaurs), and for readers it means concern given the fact that you may now be uncertain as to how you will keep up with your favorite blogs.

Many platforms exist that will enable you to do so, but as both a blogger and a reader my personal favorite is Blog Lovin'. While toying around on the website this evening in an effort to make sure that I am following all of my own favorite blogs before the July 1 cutoff date, I discovered a very easy way to import your Google Reader list right into Blog Lovin'. Prest-o, change-o! Follow the tutorial below to ensure that you are following your favorite blogs (a list for which I hope Getting Cheeky makes the cut!) before time runs out.

One. Create an account with Blog Lovin' (if you haven't already) and click the Blog Lovin' icon on the upper left hand side of the page to access your "home" screen.

Two. Open your menu at the upper right hand of the page and select Settings.

Three. Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings page and you will see a white box in the Other section entitled Import Blogs From Google Reader and More.

Four. Select the blue box that enables you to import blogs from Google Reader.

Five. Once the option to Allow Access pops up, permit Blog Lovin' to access your account and after the page loads your current reading list will be magically transferred for you!

Thank you all for reading Getting Cheeky, and for making the switch with me. I know how frustrating this reading platform malarkey is, and I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you are willing to tough it out for my blog and the blogs of all of my fellow beauty bloggers through the ups and downs of Google changes!

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I will do my best to answer them.
