Seven Things Sunday

It's always a shame when one's birthday is on a week day! Particularly following an all too short two day weekend. I've shoved as much celebration as I possibly can into my two free days before my birthday on Tuesday, will continue to celebrate this coming weekend by visiting family in Tucson, AZ and even more so the following weekend when I finally have the opportunity to go out with friends. I suppose it could be worse than celebrating your birthday three weekends in a row, no? I'm taking advantage of my current down time to pen a Seven Things Sunday post as it's been all too long since I last shared a list of random things I've been liking, loving or (very rarely) disliking.

One. Lilly Wood and The Prick
Something I rarely discuss on Getting Cheeky is my obsession with music. For as long as I can remember I've been a walking jukebox. There is a song for every mood, and you will rarely find me without music playing. I tend to make new discoveries and then play the same album over and over again, and that album is currently Lilly Wood and The Prick's The Fight. Particularly the song Where I Want to Be (below).

Two. The Perfect Turquoise Ring.
I'm certain that I've mentioned my love of rings on Getting Cheeky in the past. Despite many visits to Tucson, Arizona throughout my life time to visit family members I've managed not to buy a single turquoise ring. Rather than treating myself to yet another cosmetic that I'm certain I don't need as a birthday present this year I plan to hunt for and subsequently buy the perfect turquoise ring. (Stay tuned ... I may be unsuccessful.)

Three. Serge Lutens (Still ...)
I'm sure that many perfume addicts lovers will tell you that they favor a particular fragrance house. In my case that brand is Serge Lutens. Straddling the divide between perfume and wearable art, there are very few Serge Lutens fragrances that don't agree with me. Given unlimited funds and an enormous space in which to store them all I'd happily own each and every one of them. Even though that's an unrealistic wish, I do have a relatively large wish list at the moment that includes Fille en Aiguilles, Five O'Clock au Gingembre, Ambre Sultan and Fourreau Noir. I can't get enough ...

Four. Autumn.
I had to do it. I just had to. I've been so restrained about expressing my excitement for the impending season, but I can't hold it in anymore. All of my favorite things occur between September and December and I'm eager for the weather to change. What's better than autumn clothing? Makeup? Leather boots? Reading a good novel with a cup of tea and listening to the wind rustle through dry leaves? Nothing. The count down has begun.

Five. Anthropologie's Averly Pullover in Ivory.
I just treated myself to two adorable new pieces with my Anthropologie birthday discount, but naturally the instant I make my purchase I discover yet another item to add to my wish list. The last thing I need is another delicate ivory top, but the Averly Pullover comes in sweater form (rendering the purchase justifiable as far as I'm concerned) and it's so my style that it's as though it was made just for me. I'm in love.

Six. Amaretto Sours.
I'm not a huge drinker, but I've been absolutely in love with amaretto sours of late. The combination of sweet and nutty with a touch of zing and fizz is absolutely perfect. It's all I've been ordering while out with friends and I've been reading varying recipes like a madwoman. If last year was the year of Moscow Mules, and the year before that of the Bloody Mary than this year is undoubtedly the year of the Amaretto Sour.

Seven. A few wonderful blog posts as always ...
I'm so in love with Tom Ford's She Wolf, that I'm also thinking of Orchid Haze. Best Things in Beauty's review and swatches are tempting!
I'm not big on Benefit Boxed Powders, but Danielle of Bloomin' Beauty makes me feel like I need Rockateur.
Carina of Softly Nothing Spaces took "a page from my book" (get the pun) and wrote her own excellent Inspired By Literature post.

What are your seven things this Sunday?
