Cheeky Checklist: October 2013

The very first post I ever wrote on Getting Cheeky was my inaugural Cheeky Checklist. Almost three years later, I feel a sense of nostalgia whenever I begin writing this monthly series that essentially amounts to a favorites post that I choose to pen mid month rather than at the beginning or end so as to avoid the deluge of favorites written around that time.

Due to reader requests, I've been taking favorites photographs in different areas of my home. This month's must have products have been photographed on top of the mantle in a room my husband and I are eventually hoping to remodel (aka no 1970s wood paneling). However outdated the paneling may be, I feel that it adds a certain "harvest" vibe when paired with Indian Corn and a collection of favorites perfectly suited to autumn weather.

Paddywax Apothecary Tobacco & Patchouli Candle
A few weeks ago I stumbled upon this gem in a local boutique while shopping for autumn decorations. Although the names of a few other scents captured my attention more than Tobacco & Patchouli, I fell in love with this treasure immediately upon lifting the glass cap. Why? Because Paddywax Tobacco & Patchouli smells exactly like one of my favorite perfumes: Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. I started burning this candle last weekend on a cold foggy day and enjoyed the feeling of being enveloped in one of my favorite cozy and comforting perfumes.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and Après Beach
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of having my hair styled at Chicago's Blowtique Salon. I was thrilled to discover that Blowtique carries Oribe, and snagged two small sizes of their most talked about sprays: Dry Texturizing Spray and Après Beach. I've mentioned many times that I struggle to actually style my hair due to the sheer amount that I have, but these products work incredibly well with thick and difficult to manage locks making styling fool proof. On top of their effectiveness, both smell absolutely incredible, and we all know I'm a sucker for a nice fragrance.

Bourjois Poudre de Riz de Java (Original Review Here)
I'm madly in love with Bourjois Poudre de Riz de Java. It's a subtle all over highlighter, its packaging is amazing and the powder itself smells ever so faintly of violets. In short, this blast from the past is perfect. Despite my drive to use up makeup products, I can't help but ration this limited edition treasure that has been flying off the shelves.

Le Métier de Beauté Corinthian Eye Shadow
When I first treated myself to Le Métier de Beauté's Corinthian eye shadow I immediately crowned it my all time favorite shadow. Believe it or not that title still stands after over two years. This shade is the crowning jewel of my taupe collection. Equal parts grey, purple and beige this incredibly blendable shade is absolute perfection and always reappears in my "daily use" makeup routine once the weather grows slightly cooler.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Fluorescent Beige Nail Polish
Although I haven't been interested enough to explore the full Marc Jacobs Beauty range, I did know that I had to have the nail polish in Fluorescent Beige. This peachy sand/bisque is illuminated with iridescent shimmering particles that make an otherwise flat color exciting and bring new life to an otherwise over played hue. I tend to turn to shades like Fluorescent Beige when I'm not sure what else to wear so this new staple in my polish collection has already gotten quite a bit of use.

Vichy DermaBlend Foundation Stick
Despite the fact that I'm dying to try Yves Saint Laurent's new Youth Liberator Foundation, my strict one in/one out policy means that I should really be using up everything I have before I purchase a new foundation. I'd completely forgotten about the Vichy Dermablend Foundation Stick lurking in the back of my makeup drawer which made its rediscovery that much more sweet. One swipe of this across the central parts of my moisturized face stands in for foundation and concealer. I'm not sure why I neglected this to begin with as I like it ten times more than Vichy's normal DermaBlend cream foundation.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm
I'm sure Nuxe's buzzed about Rêve de Miel balm has been featured in a Cheeky Checklist posts, but it's just that good. My love for this gem has nothing to do with the "hype" that surrounds it as I'd been using this balm years before I even started blogging. My eczema prone lips chap very easily if I stray from applying this product at night. I neglected to repurchase for years, but now that I've used up many of the other balms I had lying around I've been using Rêve de Miel almost exclusively with incredible results. I never want to be without this because it keeps my lips silky and hydrated no matter the season. I love it so much I just purchased two additional pots in the Haute Look sale this past weekend!
