Cheeky Checklist: December 2013

*This post contains PR samples.
The very first post I ever wrote on Getting Cheeky was my inaugural Cheeky Checklist. Almost three years later, I feel a sense of nostalgia whenever I begin writing this monthly series that essentially amounts to a favorites post that I choose to pen mid month rather than at the beginning or end so as to avoid the deluge of favorites written around that time.

Due to reader requests, I've been taking favorites photographs in different areas of my home. This month's must have products have been set against the backdrop of our Buddha who adds a soothing vibe to our bedroom. Perhaps I should have used more holiday decorations for a seasonal effect, but I couldn't resist the beautiful lighting!

Eucerin Eczema Relief Products*
I have been using Eucerin's Eczema Relief products all autumn and I have fallen in love. I often struggle with keratosis pilaris (more commonly known as "chicken bumps") on my upper arms along with dry red patches left behind once my eczema has cleared up. Eucerin's Eczema Relief range works so well that it's almost magical. After years of running to French Pharmacie products to treat my eczema prone skin, I've found something on my own shelves that gets the job done and I will now never be without these products.

By Terry Rose de Rose Liquid Blush in 01 Fresh Rose
I recently wrote a post about By Terry's Rose de Rose Liquid Blush in 01 Fresh Rose. Since this product arrived on my doorstep almost a month ago I have quite literally not used another blush. Blendable, buildable, and the perfect combination of illumination and natural rosy blush I simply cannot get enough. I often have incredibly long days at the office followed by meetings elsewhere, and the best part of By Terry's Rose de Rose Liquid Blush is that it stays with you all day.

Oribe Après Beach and Dry Texturizing Spray
I'll admit it, I've been completely seduced by Oribe. Due to their price point these products seem to be somewhat galvanizing; however, for my particular hair type Oribe's products are miracle workers. I often struggle with dry shampoos and some beach wave sprays dry out my hair far more than I'd like. Oribe's Après Beach and Dry Texturizing Spray do their job to perfection without stressing my hair with unnecessary build up or dryness.

Essie For the Twill of It
For the past few weeks I have used Essie's For the Twill of It almost exclusively. This shimmery gunmetal polish is not unlike MAC's Club shadow in that it changes dimension and color in different lighting conditions. Although deep red and aubergine nails are most suited to the festive season, I've been enjoying this unique take on a winter polish.

African Botanics Marula Intense Skin Repair Body Balm
I don't want to say too much about this product and I will have a more detailed post up later this week. Ultimately this balm is as good as "they" say it is. I've been able to fight eczema, dryness around my lips (allowing me to wear lipstick regularly!), winter dry hands, and the list goes on all thanks to this balm. Needless to say it's a favorite and will continue to be so throughout the harsh winter.

Diptyque Feu de Bois Room Spray
Earlier this autumn I discovered that Diptyque offers a far wider range of room fragrances than the two we have available to us in the United States (Figuier and Baies). I had a friend purchase Diptyque's Feu de Bois spray for me in Paris and mail it to the United States. While you miss out on the warm and cozy feeling that accompanies the burning of a candle, this spray is incredibly long lasting and almost more potent in terms of fragrance than the candle itself. My wood fire in a bottle has been a perfect way to add cozy ambiance to our home this holiday season.

Laura Mercier Warm Roasted Chestnuts Candle
Earlier this fall I managed to stumble across Laura Mercier's must have holiday candle, Warm Roasted Chestnuts, on sale for an incredible price due to its outdated packaging. This may be in last year's jar, but the candle is exactly the same and just as my favorite bloggers and Youtubers began to talk about how much they adore this candle during the holiday season I was able to pull it out and enjoy. Each time I burn this candle a rich, warm and spicy aroma tinged with a sweet nut undertone fills the room not unlike a roasted nut stand at a Christmas market. Heavenly!
